Kingfish fall to Bandits 5-4

The Jackson Bandits downed the Kingfish 5-4 on a late third period goal as the Kingfish went scoreless on the power play for the second straight evening.

The Bandits opened up a 1-0 lead at the 6:20 mark of the opening period as Scott Kelman beat Paxton Schafer off a pass from Regan Rome.

Jeff Bes gave the Bandits a 2-0 lead with 13 seconds remaining in the opening stanza as he beat Schafer over the shoulder. Mike Oliveria and Eric Fortier added the assists on the goal.

The Kingfish battled back in the second period as Jason Norrie beat Greg Garner on a shot from the right point at the 5:15 mark of the second period to cut the lead to one. Wes Scanzano and Sean Peach picked up the assists on the goal.

Wes Scanzano tied the contest up a 2-2 at the 9:53 mark of the second period as he took a pass from Glen Crawford and punched the puck past an outstretched Garner. Jason Norrie added an assist.

Jackson regained the lead at the 17:15 mark of the period as Kelman added his second goal of the game. Gaetan Royer and Sean O'Connor added the assists.

Jackson opened the scoring in the third period as Brian Forslund beat Schafer at the 2:17 mark of the period.

Ryan Trsek cut the lead back to one as he punched a shot past Garner at the 8:04 mark of the third. Clark Jones and Sam Paquet added the assists on the goal.

Paquet tied the game up at 4-4 as he picked up a rebound and beat Garner at the 14:55 mark of the third period. Jesse Ferguson picked up an assist as he took the puck off the faceoff and fired a shot on Garner that created the rebound for Paquet's goal.

The Bandits took advantage of an offensive zone faceoff late in the third peirod as Forslund added his second of the evening as he lifted a backhand over Schafer's shoulder. The unassisted goal came at the 2:07 mark of the third period.
