Bandits Blank Kingfish, 6-0
Baton Rouge Kingfish Press Release
Adam Hauser made 26 saves while Eric Fortier tallied two goals as the Jackson Bandits beat the Kingfish, 6-0 and recorded their second consecutive shutout of the Kingfish.
The Kingfish and the Bandits skated to a scoreless first period as both teams had opportunities in front of the otherís net but couldnít capitalize.
Jackson took a 1-0 lead late in the second period as Bryan Forslund won an offensive zone draw cleanly back to Regan Rome at the left point. Rome took the puck and skated down the left wing side and flipped the puck over the shoulder of Jeff Blair at the 15:48 mark of the period for the lead.
Billy Newson extended Jacksonís lead to two goals 5:50 into the second third period as he deflected a Brent Gauvreau shot past Blair. Bryan Forslund added an assist on the goal.
Forslund gave the Bandits a 3-0 lead as he intercepted a Kingfish pass along the blue line and beat Blair shorthanded on a breakaway with 11:30 left in the third period.
The Bandits continued to pick up goals as Doug MacIverís slap shot from the point eluded Blair four minutes later for the unassisted goal.
Jackson took a 5-0 lead as Eric Fortier took a pass from Dave Stewart and stuffed it past Blair at the 14:44 mark of the third period.
Fortier added his second of the night and finished off the scoring with just two left in the third period as he batted the puck out of a scrum in the crease past Blair. Sean Gillam and Andrei Lupandin added the assist on the goal.
The Kingfish are still winless in their last 13 games when being held off the scoreboard on the power play as they went 0-5 on the man advantage.
