KINGFISH PREP FOR HOME STAND

 

The Kingfish finished off a five game road stretch with a 1-3-1 record with a pair of weekend losses. The “0-for” week is only the second of the season for the Fish (opening weekend,0-2)  . The Fish now play 19 of the final 32 games in the Riverside Centroplex and the surplus of home encounters begins Wednesday with Birmingham coming to town. Center Mike Rucinski surpassed his career high total for goals in a season with 16 last week and this past weekend matched his career high for points (34). Rucinski set his previous records last season in Charlotte when he played 70 games. He’s on a pace to reach 68 points this year.

First look at the Bulls this season. After the a slow start the Bulls have battled back into contention. Former Kingfish Ted Laviolette anchors the Bulls defense. Birmingham C Jamey Hicks continues his climb in the scoring race with 52 pts.

 

Fri., Jan. 27, vs. New Orleans          7:05P                     Riverside Centroplex

The Brass are currently the hottest team in the ECHL having gone 9-1 in their last ten games. Kingfish are 2-2-2 vs. the Brass this year. F Cam Brown and C Mike Rucinski each have three goals and five points vs. New Orleans.

 

Sat., Jan.28, vs. Mississippi               7:05P                    Riverside Centroplex

First of three visits to Baton Rouge for Mississippi this season. The SeaWolves are the least penalized team in the ECHL. They also have the top penalty killing percentage and sixth best powerplay in the league.

Tiger Sharks even the season series at 1-1. The Kingfish allowed goals early in each period. F Matt Erredge scored twice and D Jason McKee added two assists for the Kingfish.

 

1/20  Kingfish 2 in Greenville 5

The first time ever that the Grrrowl have beaten the Kingfish without the overtime shoot out. Former Kingfish defenseman Jason Kelly led the way for the Grrrowl with a goal and two assists. Kingfish F Andy Doktorchik registered a goal and an assist.
